Fear of Holes Phobia
Fear of Holes, Holes Phobia or Trypophobia
I have already talked in anther specific article about the ‘phobia of holes’ . Today I came to make it more detailed and to talk about ‘Fear of Holes’ (phobia of holes) in general. This is how you can boost your knowledges about this irritating psychological phobia.
Many people might consider it ridiculous; how people react to the small holes as a source of fear.
Well, the human body and brain are a very deep secret. You cannot just analyze everything easily and know what the tips that confuse the human mind are. Scientists and experts have been looking and searching since the deep old history, in the analysis of the psychological side of human being.
Until now, there are more secrets to know than the known ones. Even, if you see the high level of advanced science and technology in our time, there are still a lot to know.
There is a very clear concept in the way that science works; the more you answer your questions, the more you have questions to ask. This method of learning in science is what makes it the most logical and the most important thing that the whole humankind depends on it. This method leads to know the deepest secrets of nature, and human nature.
Away from general science, let us move to the science of psychology. The psychology was first boosted and worldly increased with the great psychiatrist S. Fruid. And one the biggest scientist or rather philosopher, who went deep in analyzing the human nature was D. Hume.
However, we are not here to know about the history of science, human nature, or psychology. We are here today, to know about how it works the phobia of small holes. Why it was considered a psychological disorder among common people and an emotion of disgust among doctors. Why do common people consider it a serious disorder in the psychological aspect of human being?
Why others, who never had it, consider it ridiculous and not worthy? Why those scientists and doctors do not confirm whether; it is a disorder in the mental or psychological side of the human being, or just an emotion that goes away with time?
Specialists claim to say that we should not call it ‘phobia’, because it is not any kind of fear. People who have it or have already experienced it, aim that it is a phobia. Now, you might be wondering why I mention all this argues and statements between two different sides. Well, first of all because this might be the most important issue about this ‘Fear of Holes’. Let us make clear what is it, and make you sure of the nature of such an emotion or a disorder.
Trypophobia (scientific term of Phobia of holes or Fear of Holes) is what people claim to be a pathological fear (phobia) of holes. Usually, the kinds of small holes that the people feel phobia against are the ones that take an irregular shade of very tiny and small holes.
A group of people on social media and internet who have the condition first used the term of ‘Trypophobia’ to describe what they feel in front of the small holes in 2005. Nevertheless, the APA (American Psychiatric Association) did not confirm this term, neither did any of the scientific literature.
The doctors say that the Fear of holes is not actually a psychological disorder, but an emotion of disgust. When the people see that kind of small holes, they feel a change in their feelings and emotions. They react with a kind of disgust, because they do not usually see that.
It does not matter either you consider Fear of holes is a psychological problem or just an emotion; there are thousands of people around the world who admit that it is a trouble within them. It was found that about 15 percent of the people are having some irritating and annoying feelings once they see those tiny little holes.
There are numerous signs that a person does once he sees a plate of holes, or too many holes. Those signs are such as; itching, feeling disgust, feeling discomfort, feeling irritation and upset. That is the reason why many people consider it a phobia. It causes several symptoms and effects that make it look like a phobia. Probably, that is the reason why they call it phobia.
There is a fine possibility that you are one of those 15 percent of people. That is why I recommend that you check some websites and some pictures of those tiny little holes, in order to face what you fear. The lotus fruits; many people feel that their skin is crawling once they look at the lotus fruit and the lotus flower.
A creeped coral; once you look to such images or such thing in your life you will not feel discomfort, if you have the Fear of holes (Phobia of Holes) .
However, there are too many pictures, things, and looks that might make you feel disgusted and irritated once you look to them for longtime, or just a moment. Do not worry any longer; we are here today to help you know all you need to know about the Fear of holes Phobia.
Well, who is a Trypophobe?
The person who is developing the Fear of holes phobia notice that he has this since the childhood. There can be situations where a person feels such feelings and determinate that he has the phobia.
For example, there is time when one cannot look at his mother’s crumpet. The child who notices that might feel irritated and starts to cry, once he is handed the plate in which the crumpet is.
This fear can be associated with nightmare as well. The child who is having the phobia of small holes might have nightmares where there are a lot of small holes, such as the crumpet he saw the daylight, or the pore he saw on his friend’s face turning to many pores and then to holes.
Growing up, the person might notice that it is not the crumpet or the pores on his friend’s skin what is freaking him out, but the tiny holes. That is when the person realizes that there is something wrong with him.
Actually, people who look at anything with small holes, such as; open blackheads or acnes on one’s face, looking at a skin of a frog full of holes, or a cut hand and left to get holes, feel disgusted and feel that they cannot look at such things. This shows that everybody feels disgust in front of an image with so many small holes. But it depend on what those holes made up from.
For example, while I writing this article, my friend was with me, and he asked me about what is this Fear of holes. Well, I told him let me show you some pictures and I will tell you after what is it. When I showed him a picture of honeycomb, he was okay, and then a lotus fruits, he remains feeling okay.
Then, I moved to a picture of the infected ear of a dog with too many holes in it, he said ‘eeukh’, then a face full of open acnes, he could not bear it and went telling me that this is too disgusting.
This short-term and simple experience showed me how everybody feels disgusted in a level, but it depends on us, on the human nature and psychological aspect.
The person who inspired me to write about this article cannot even look at a lotus fruit (he is having phobia of small holes). My friend, who is with me, does not feel the same with lotus fruit, but he feels something with the image of the infected ear of the dog. For myself, I feel nothing with all those images.
This shows how every one of us is having the phobia of small holes, but it depends on the views around the holes and what it is made up from exactly.
Nevertheless, the experience of mine does not show that everyone if having phobia of small holes, or having Trypophobia exactly. It just shows how people react to several situations and views. And people who feel such feelings only if they look at the small tiny holes, are the one who develop this condition. Those ones are named the “Trypophobe”.
Let us see what a Trypophobe said about having the Fear of holes Phobia and how the reaction was like.
He says;” while I was growing up, I was realizing that there is something wrong with me; unlike other normal people I feel too much irritated when I look to the small holes, I cannot stand it and I remove my sight from it immediately. Once, my friend cut a sponge and I saw those too much tiny holes, I couldn’t bear it and I was about to pass out just because of the look of the face of the cut-sponge.”
Many people might see that this is exaggeration and those people react emotionally. Yet, those people who are developing the condition consider it a serious issue and need serious treatments. We have to respect one another, and to respect the feelings of each other.
If you notice that your friend, your son, your partner or anybody is having the condition, do not take is as fun, but take into consideration that you need to help him/her. It might look to you, and to even scientist, ridiculous, but it is really serious and need serious treatments and researches.
